Design Tank HI is born!!
Hey Hey there party peeps! It has taken me forever to figure this out and hopefully this works... and works out. Design Tank is an idea I had a couple of months before I graduated with my Doctorate of Architecture. Essentially, I wanted to buy my own little place on the internet. I really had no idea (nor do I have much of an idea now) but all I knew was that if I was going to stay in Hawaii I have to find a way to make it worth it.
A little background info- I'm a local girl, but growing up in Hawaii I never felt like I fit in. I felt really out of place. I grew up trying to be the perfect filipino daughter- stayed out of trouble, didn't date (because mom and dad said I wasn't allowed to date until I graduated from college) and was a tooootal nerd. I was into math, I was into science- I was in all of the honor societies, but my real passion was industrial art- and so I was a graphic arts geek. I was one of those kids in high school that tried to do everything- all the clubs, etc... but still had NO clue at who they were. All I knew was that I wanted to get the fuck out! Whether it was high school, the island- whatever. Unfortunately, I had a bed-ridden brother who was severely handicapped and needed fulltime assistance. I... didn't feel right about leaving home. So, I decided to go to college at the University of Hawaii, and like any other "smart" Filipino-American, I got pressured into going into the sciences and thought I wanted to be a doctor. Suffice it to say, I ended up going architecture after my sophomore year. You would think the struggle ended there... bah!
Architecture... architecture... architecture... it is such a love and hate relationship!
